Maurice Hochschild, after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, worked at the New York investment bank DLJ before moving back to London and joining the broker Hoare Govett.
In 1990, Maurice co-founded European Capital, a specialist finance house with clients in the infrastructure and utility sectors. During the 1990s, Maurice was a member of a commission advising the UK Government on urban regeneration, and also advised Government on private finance for social housing and higher education. Maurice advised The Housing Finance Corporation in the 1990s, and has been on the board of RSLs, most recently Notting Hill Housing Trust (until 2010).
Investec acquired European Capital in November 2001. Maurice leads Investec’s Project & Infrastructure business, which finances and develops infrastructure and power projects and operates out of offices in Johannesburg, London, Sydney, New York, Toronto and Mumbai.
