ISSA INTERCLEAN, Amsterdam – May, 2012 – Sonim Technologies and Avista Time jointly present the XP1301 CORE NFC, the world’s first ultra-rugged Near Field Communications (NFC) mobile phone. The Sonim XP1301 CORE NFC ultra-rugged, fully submersible NFC mobile phone is designed specifically for the facilities management sector and cleaning service workers. It enhances service delivery quality assurance, measures and improves worker productivity and visibility to the clients – all while standing up to the unforgiving environments that cleaning and facilities management brings. The XP1301 CORE NFC works with the apps and hosted services from Sonim’s partners that include Proof of Activity and Real Time Attendance reporting. At the ISSA Interclean show in Amsterdam, Sonim and its partner Avista Time at booth 02.325G are demonstrating the XP1301 CORE NFC. ISSA Interclean attendees will see that at a range up 2 to 4 centimetres, the XP1301 CORE can read or write information to a contactless tag that can be placed:

  • In the ID badge of a cleaning services worker who needs to register when they start duty
  • On the wall of a room that must be cleaned
  • On a garbage or refuse container that must be emptied
  • Near a window that must be polished
  • On a toilet paper dispenser that must be replenished

Data collected by the XP1301 CORE NFC is sent over the mobile network to a server that generates reports, statistics, alerts and other information that can be used to optimize the efficiency, consistency and quality of cleaning service operations. The screen can then prompt the worker of the next action to be taken in the approved sequence. Since the position of the tags is known, the nearest workers can be mobilized to the location where immediate attention is needed, in the event of accident, injury or attack.

“The XP1301 CORE shakes off the daily rigours of the cleaner’s work environment that cause lesser NFC devices to fail in use, and comes with enterprise level service and support”, said Sanjay Jhawar, VP/GM of Marketing and Applications. He continued, “The extreme reliability of the XP1301 NFC CORE, impervious to frequent drops on floors, into toilets and washing in detergent solution ensures it will withstand hard use every day”. Magnus Maurex, Founder at Avista Time says: "We want to demonstrate that people using the latest communications technology can avoid many of the problems and challenges that the industry faces such as inaccessibility and lack of instruction.”

The XP1301 CORE NFC provides:

  • Lowest Total Cost of Ownership with 3yrs comprehensive warranty.
  •  Class leading NFC tag reading up to 4cm and 99% NFC read reliability
  • Longest battery life for NFC usage of any mobile phone: up to 5 days of continuous NFC operations with 20 tag reads and server updates per hour.

Like all Sonim phones, the XP1301 CORE NFC far surpasses the toughest standards for ruggedness and durability. Beyond MIL-SPEC, it can be dropped from 2 metres onto concrete and with its IP68 specification can be submerged in two metres of water for up to 60 minutes. Resistant to detergents, grease, petroleum oil and many other chemicals it can also operate in temperatures from -20 to +55 Celsius and has an impact and puncture proof Corning® Gorilla® Glass screen.
