SONIM LAUNCHES THE XP3340 SENTINEL MOBILE PHONE - NEW LONE WORKER SAFETY SOLUTION WITH UP TO 29 HOURS OF GPS TRACKING TIME
Longest GPS Tracking Time of Any Mobile Phone
San Mateo, CA− Oct 13th, 2011– Sonim Technologies, the makers of the world’s most rugged phones, today announces a preview of the Sonim XP3340SENTINEL mobile phone, a lone worker safety solution that provides users with the longest GPS tracking time of any mobile phone. Custom-designed for vertical markets especially securityguards, facilities management personnel and traffic wardens, the XP3340SENTINEL will keep remote workers safe while in isolated andhazardous environments.
The following global providers of monitoring services and lone worker solutionshave partnered with Sonim to provide the emergency response solution embedded within the new XP3340 SENTINEL:
Canada: Tsunami Solutions
France: Magneta, Saxxo
Germany: Presentec
Netherlands: CapX Private Mobile Networks, SafelinQ, Spotmaster, Securitas
Sweden: BXO
The UAE: Sicuro Group
The UK: Peoplesafe, SitexOrbis, Trackaphone
“In the last 18 months, our customers put our previous lone worker product to the test in extreme environments and situations, and thousands of workers are now protected daily by Sonim and our partners”, said Sanjay Jhawar, VP/GM of Marketing and Applications of Sonim Technologies.
The Dutch branch of Securitas, the world’s largest security organization, deployed 250 XP3 SENTINEL devices, Sonim’s first lone worker phone, in December 2010 – replacing a private mobile radio system. As a result, the company has been able to decrease its corporate liability and reduce its costs for devices and network access. The much lower incidence of false alarms has allowed check-ins to be mandated every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes, doubling effective worker safety.

MAN-DOWN
The Sonim XP3340 SENTINEL includes the advanced and highly configurable man-down accelerometer technology first seen in the Sonim XP3 SENTINEL. Configured over-the-air by the partner monitoring server to match the end user’s specific work scenario, the man-down sensor detects impact, free-fall, prolonged tilt and no-movement at various thresholds, minimizing false alarms and reducing the cost of monitoring center operations.
LONG OPERATION
On a single battery charge, the XP3340 SENTINEL easily lasts for a 16 hour shift, even with GPS tracking every 2 minutes, Bluetooth on and more than5 hours of talk time. GPS tracking alone can continue for up to 29 hours at 2-3 minute intervals, the longest for any mobile phone.
ULTRA RUGGED
Sonim's Rugged Performance Standards (RPS) go well beyond the military specification 810G for ruggedness. With the same engineering as the Sonim’s Guinness World Record breaking toughest phone, the handset is fully waterproof to 2 metres, dust-proof with its IP-68 rating, and can be dropped from 2 metres onto concrete. The 2 inch high-resolution display is protected by a 1.5 mm thick Corning® Gorilla® Glass lens for the highest scratch and shock resistance. Also certified against salt, fog, humidity, transport shock, and thermal shock, it operates in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +55°C.
The phone also enhances safety by enabling calls under the worst conditions. With strong antenna performance, an active noise canceling microphone, and loud audio with a 23mm speaker, protected by a GORE® protective vent, communications aren’t disrupted.
DEDICATED SAFTEY BUTTONS
The Sonim XP3340SENTINEL features risk management buttons coloured red, amber and green, simplifying the user interface and requiring no menu selections by the user. A typical configuration is as follows:
- Red Button: In emergencies, the user presses the dedicated red button on the side of the phone, even if the phone keypad is locked. The user’s GPS location is sent to the monitoring centre, where the position appears on a map with other relevant data. A speaker-phone call is automatically placed to the emergency monitoring center to summon assistance. After the call, GPS tracking will continue until the incident is resolved and the phone is remotely reset.
- Amber Alert Button: With the amber key, the lone worker can request enhanced monitoring if they are going into a risky situation. The monitoring service tracks the worker and reminds the user to use the keypad to acknowledge their safety.
- Green Button: The green key may be used to indicate that the user has started or ended their working shift, or to indicate the user is still safe.
Building on field experience since the XP3 SENTINEL was launched, new capabilities include higher A-GPS performance, geofencing and enhanced usability in canceling man down alarms.
